Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

An evidence-based therapy for families of children with big behaviors and diagnoses such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). PCIT works toward increasing parent confidence in managing challenging behaviors while enhancing children’s emotion regulation and the parent-child relationship.

What We Offer

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based intervention. I offer telehealth sessions coaching parents live to help increase parenting strategies that reduce disruptive behaviors, enhance the parent-child relationship, and increase emotion regulation. Families who complete PCIT tend to report a decrease in daily challenges, less stress, and stronger bonds with their children. PCIT can particularly helpful for families of children with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or other behavioral concerns.

PCIT Process

Step 1

Complete an intake session with your therapist. This will include PCIT specific assessments that help us make sure PCIT is a great fit for your family and your concerns.

Step 2

All forms of PCIT begin with a session to meet the child and parents and assess a baseline for our work together. One thing you’ll learn about PCIT is that we love data . We use the information we collect to guide our work together so we can truly address your concerns.

Step 3

Parents engage in a parent-only session to learn and practice skills for working towards our goals. From there, you’ll have weekly sessions with your child for live coaching. Outside of session, we ask for 5-10 minutes of special play time using the skills you’ve learned at home each day.

Coaching with Purpose

My job during live coaching sessions is to help you take the skills from learning and discussing them to implementation so that there are fewer challenges in the future and when they do happen (because they will) you know exactly how to handle it.
